As a Transmission Systems Engineer, assist in the design, development and installation of a C-band and Ku-band satellite earth station based demand assigned multiple access (DAMA) voice and data communications network throughout rural Alaska. Responsibilities include all facets of the configuration and management of DAMA earth station equipment with emphasis on the Network Management System, IF channel unit modems and RF transceiver systems. Further responsibilities include all DAMA switch translations, interface with the manufacturer for development and implementation of new features including SS7 TCAP/ISUP in addition to problem resolution, primary interface for the GCI Operations department for DAMA network troubleshooting, and interface with the LEC switch engineers on signaling protocols for the DAMA network.

As a Staff Engineer, assisted in all phases of project design, implementation and support. Individually and as an integral team member, developed proposals, designed and installed communications systems and subsystems, and generated engineering reports and feasibility studies for local, national and international companies such as Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Union Oil Company of California, ARCO Alaska, Inc., BP Exploration (Alaska), Inc., Chevron, U.S.A., Amoco Production Company, Shell Western E&P, Inc., Amerada-Hess and Ericsson/General Electric. Communications system design experience includes the generation of path studies for 450 MHz, 960 MHz and 2 GHz analog and digital microwave radio links, as well as line-of-sight and obstructed path VHF/UHF radio links, PBX and key telephone systems and data circuits. Communications system implementation experience includes acquisition and installation of radios, antennas, transmission lines, power conditioning equipment, towers, equipment shelters and alarm reporting/monitoring equipment. Other responsibilities include maintenance and software support for a PC workstation based Novell computer network, interface with common carrier organizations to coordinate the implementation of intrastate voice and data circuits, performed tasks associated with FCC licensing of operational-fixed radio stations throughout the State of Alaska, and assisted the sales/marketing department with technical expertise during project meetings with clients.

As an electrical engineering intern, assisted in the development, editing and publication of numerous documents and briefings pertaining to Phase II and III Milstar Interoperability Testing. Also, provided "hands-on" technical assistance in the construction and implementation of a Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) interface circuit providing RS-232 to MILSTD 188-114 signal level conversions, as well as design and construct impedance matching circuits used in secure voice intelligibility tests.
